Case Review & Advisory Legal Opinion - $400

Our Case Review & Advisory Opinion package offers potential clients a thorough case review before the firm accepts their matter. Here’s how it works:

  • For a flat fee of $400, our lawyers will review and assess your case, then provide an honest opinion based on our legal experience as to its merits.

  • We will explain why we believe or do not believe the case is worth pursuing.

  • Everything will be done within one (1) week of our receiving applicable documents.

This package is generally applied with respect to potential Divisional Court appeals, but can also be applied in respect of other matters. In some cases, it is either mandatory or the firm’s lawyers will insist on it as a precondition to our accepting a case. It is not required ever for those responding to a case (i.e., respondents).

For those seeking assistance with a new or prospective LTB matter, please visit our Paralegal Referrals page, as the firm no longer accepts new LTB cases.

This package is subject to additional terms and conditions. Pricing reflected is subject to applicable taxes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Appeals to the Divisional Court are long, costly, and complex. We will not assist an applicant if we believe the appeal will simply waste the court’s and the parties’ time and money. And the only way we can make this determination is by spending a certain amount of time reviewing the matter.

We understand this is frustrating to some people who are convinced they would succeed on appeal. They are welcome to proceed with their appeal without our involvement.

(Those responding to an appeal do not require an Appeal Review & Advisory Opinion package.)

  • The review will be complete within no more than one (1) week after we receive the necessary documents from you. Usually, it is completed within a few days.

  • No. This package only includes a case review and the legal opinion. If following review the firm indicates it is willing to accept your case, and you choose to appeal, you can opt for our Divisional Court Appeal Month package or we can bill for work at our applicable hourly rates, which vary by staff member based on education and experience.

  • We will explain why and may propose other possible steps forward. We may refuse to take the case if we feel it would be a waste of all parties’ time and resources.
